Time Trials

The Time trials have come and gone, it was a beautiful day and we had a great turn out. Before I let you know who won I want to thank our sponsors, Hatchet Wound, Heal clothing, Haven Skate Park, Overkill skateboards, Brick Wheels, Hoodlum, and Dato clothing. Now down to the good stuff. Taking home gold with a time of 18.97 seconds was David “Mr. Infinity” Lewis. Dave, showing no mercy, also took home the second fastest time of the day with a 19.06 second run. Ant Bartholomew took third place with a time of 19.75 seconds. I also have a Honorable mention for Brandon, who took a nasty spill during his final heat, Im pretty sure on was on his way to a 8 second run. Brandon is doing ok, a few stitches, broken arm, and a really pissed off wife. Good job Brandon!

Here are a few high lights from the event courtesy of Dan from Heal clothing. Check out his flickr page for more.

Wisdom Wednesday

So I came across this web site, Skate Stoppers , They offer this great product to help Beautify your home or business. If you have a nice marble  ledge or bench, or even a handrail, you can purchase these things to glue or bolt onto them. Their product comes in a variety of sizes and shapes and will add value to any property. Do you have a nice Granite ledge at your business? Why not throw a few of these suckers on it every two or three feet. Sure you wont be able to sit there any more, and the ledge will be all but useless, but at least it will keep those pesky ten- fifteen year old hooligans off of it with their roller boards. The ones for the handrails are fantastic! It makes it where you cant even hold on to the railing while walking up or down the stairs. That’s o.k. though, its not like that eighty-four year old woman needed that railing any way, I’m sure she’s spry and agile enough to make it up the steps without a problem. You can visit the website to get more information or order their products. They are very fairly priced, and not damaging at all to install. I do have to say one negative thing though, the website has a few grammatical errors( ” soon to be a unofficial skate park”, if the word after the article “a” or “an” starts with a vowel, like unofficial, than you would use “an“. If it just starts with a consonant, then you would use “a“. Like this, ” This skate stopper is a huge eyesore.” Or, ” This skate stopper is an obstruction” Get it?)

I have listed the mailing address for anyone who would like to contact the company. Or you can try to use their website to contact them.

Time Trials!

Wisdom Wednesday

This week we will be addressing You! I’ve noticed that your style has been a little…… how do I put this…weak! Stop crying, that’s why we’re here. We’re going to get you some help. I think the main problem is your skating ability. Theres nothing we can do about that so we will have to work on the clothes you wear so it at least looks like you’re good. If you look good you don’t have to skate, you can just stand there mall grabbing your board and people will say, ” That dude looks like he’s really good”. Lets start with the feet, If you’re not wearing Nikes, Vans, or Adidas then you don’t skate.  I suggest you get a pair of these click here. Now on to the pants. Look down, you’re wearing normal fitting blue jeans aren’t you? Problem number two, if they aren’t neon and painted on then you might as well be wearing nothing at all. Might I suggest this pair, click here. Yeah, looking good. Now on to the shirt. This is a hard one, you can either go with the always classic ghetto gown, or you can go with 2 sizes too small all over print T-shirt. Either way you go with this one you cant miss. So lets see, we got the shoes, pants, shirt, all that’s left is accessories! The way I see it you can never have enough. Start with as many of those hemp bracelets you can fit on one arm. Also try to find a few really big gold chains to wear around your neck. You also need a ring on every finger. Then throw on a flat brimmed hat with all the tags still on it or you could always go with the classic bandanna. I’m pretty sure that if you follow these simple instructions you should be looking pretty fly right now.  If you follow these instructions carefully you should look something like this…………

No need to thank us, this is our job. We strive to make you the best looking skater you can be. Now get out there and show the world your new found image and confidence.

Monday Madness 11

Wisdom Wednesday

Approximately 800,000 people are seen by medical professionals annually due to skateboarding injuries. Less than 40% of individuals that do this sport wear the proper safety equipment for it. Why is this? Why don’t we wear the things that are invented to help protect us against the perils of skating? I don’t see any reason for you people to not be safe. Here is a list of reasons you should wear protective gear:

  1. Pads keep you from getting hurt.
  2. Pads smell great after using them.
  3. They are totally comfortable to wear.
  4. They fit nicely in a large 36″ x 21″ duffel bag, very portable.
  5. Pads are really, really cool looking.
  6. Did I mention they smell great after using them? Because they do!
  7. They come in a large assortment of colors and animal print patterns.
  8. They are very affordable.
  9. Chicks dig’em
  10. High-fives with wrist guards on are just the bees knees.

Monday Madness 10

Here’s Monday Madness 10, or as we like to call it ” Broken Ricky”. This was filmed with Alex’s new HD camera. So enjoy!

New Stuff

We just got a restock of Deluxe products and a shipment of KeyStone decks came in. We still have a few of the Dracula Artifact shirts in, so come get’em.

Also go check out skatedowntown.com to see a video of Artifact friends Dave Lewis,  Zack Gagnon, Dave Sullivan, and Alek Zalewski skating Groton. Weird, I don’t remember getting a call to go skate. Dicks! Check it out anyway, looked like a good time. Keep checking out the site for the most intense interview of my life from Brick Wheel’s  Matt Urbano. That guy is tough!

Up Coming Events

April is going to be a very busy month. Here’s a run down of events you better get your board to. On April 4th Haven Skate Park will be holding Rick Thorne’s Grindz and Rhymez Tour, check the Haven site for more info on that one. April 17th Haven will be holding the qualifiers for the Warped Tour. And finally, last but not least Artifact will be doing the Time Trials contest at Wethersfield Skate Park on April 24th. Sign up at 11am and contest begins at 12. There will be a BBQ going on from 1pm to 2pm only. Keep your eyes peeled for the KeyStone demo date, I’m pretty sure it will also be happening in April. So there you go, we took the liberty of planning out your whole month. Do not disappoint us by not showing up!
